Ukraine’s and Germany’s defense ministers, Mykhailo Fedorov and Boris Pistorius, signed a document in Kyiv launching the joint Brave Germany program aimed at developing defense technologies, Ukrinform reports.

During a briefing following the signing ceremony, Mykhailo Fedorov said that Germany is currently Ukraine’s largest partner in terms of security assistance volume.

He stressed that Germany is currently the world’s leading provider of security assistance to Ukraine, accounting for about one-third of all aid provided to the country.

The minister also thanked Berlin for supporting Ukraine’s air defense, particularly through funding for Patriot and IRIS-T systems and missiles for them.

According to Fedorov, Germany is also financing interceptor drones as well as middle-strike and deep-strike capabilities that Ukraine uses to target Russian military logistics.

He added that middle-strike capabilities are enabling Ukraine to disrupt the enemy’s logistics, highlighting the quality of support and financing for the most relevant areas.

The minister recalled that Ukraine and Germany had previously signed a major contract, the funding for which has already begun.

He emphasized that Ukraine will begin receiving the missiles next year and described the package as unprecedented assistance for the country.

He also highlighted Pistorius’ initiative regarding an additional package of PAC-3 missiles for Ukraine within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

According to the minister, it was thanks to this support that Ukraine managed to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure during Russia’s massive winter attacks.

In addition, Germany has started allocating funds to support drone assault units within Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

Fedorov said the Ukrainian army has shown positive momentum on the battlefield in recent months and is wearing down Russian forces.

He stressed that Russia does not have enough forces to continue offensive operations, while the Ukrainian army is wearing down Russian troops and has completely seized the initiative in deep-strike operations as well.

In his view, effective international support, modern weapons, and technological development should help Ukraine achieve its goals and a just peace.

In April, the defense ministers of Ukraine and Germany signed an agreement on exchanging defense data and launching joint technological projects.

In particular, partners will gain access to Ukrainian battlefield data from the DELTA system to develop AI models and analytical solutions in the defense sector.
