Ukraine’s and Germany’s defense ministers have signed an agreement on sharing defense data with partners. The two countries are expected to launch joint projects, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

According to Fedorov, the deal provides for the launch of joint projects.

In particular, Ukraine will share unique battlefield data, giving partners the opportunity to improve AI models and analytical solutions. As the minister noted, this is the first project in the world to develop artificial defense intelligence at this scale.

Ukraine’s partners will gain access to unique combat data from the DELTA system and more.

The agreement also provides for an in-depth analysis of how German systems are used on the battlefield, including the PzH 2000 and RCH 155 self-propelled howitzers, as well as IRIS-T air defense systems. Based on combat data, specialists plan to increase their effectiveness and improve tactics.

Drone deal and new weapons

Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed a bilateral drone deal to Germany, with relevant teams already working on it.

Following the talks, concrete decisions were also reached on weapons supplies. Over the coming years, Ukraine will receive interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, including PAC-2, as well as additional launchers for IRIS-T systems to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian airspace.

"This is a win-win model of a new type of defense cooperation," the Ukrainian minister said.

Large-scale defense package

On April 14, Ukraine and Germany also agreed on a large-scale €4 billion defense package.

Under the deal, Germany will finance the purchase of hundreds of missiles for Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine.
