German aid to Ukraine

On Tuesday, May 28, Germany's Ministry of Defense approved a new military aid package for Ukraine worth €5 billion.

Germany will also fund the future production of long-range weapons in Ukraine. A significant number of these long-range systems are expected to be produced in 2025.

In addition, a contract was signed between Ukraine and the German defense industry.

Previously, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that his country would provide substantial funding for Starlink services in Ukraine. The statement noted that Germany had already assumed responsibility for financing part of Ukraine's satellite communications as of April. This also applies to the communication systems used by Ukraine's military command.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also pledged continued support for Ukraine's medical sector. Germany will finance medical equipment produced in Ukraine.
