President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law ratifying the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Croatia on cooperation in demining activities (No. 4661-IX), according to the website of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament - ed.).
The agreement provides for the exchange of experience, training of Ukrainian specialists, the supply of specialized equipment, and the involvement of Croatian experts in demining Ukrainian territories.
According to the report, ratifying the agreement strengthens international partnerships in humanitarian demining and will help improve civilian safety.
The Verkhovna Rada approved the document in October. Lawmakers emphasized that cooperation with Croatia, a country with extensive experience in mine clearance, will help Ukraine clear liberated territories more quickly and protect citizens from mine threats.
Ukraine and Croatia previously agreed to expand joint arms production. The countries signed a Letter of Intent to deepen defense-industrial cooperation.
Additionally, Croatia will provide assistance to Ukraine as part of the drone coalition. The country will join this initiative.
"In that context, Minister Grlić Radman stated that Croatia intends to join the drone initiative led by Latvia and the United Kingdom," Croatian officials clarified.
Croatia has firmly refused to send its military personnel to Ukraine.
Croatian President Zoran Milanović believes that without a peace agreement and Russia’s consent, participation in the mission is dangerous and irresponsible.
