Ukraine and Belgium intend to start joint production of certain types of weapons. A corresponding memorandum was signed, according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Ivan Havryliuk, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine signed a memorandum with the Ministry of Defense of Belgium. This will provide a boost to bilateral relations, particularly in the field of defense production.

"This is crucial in the context of developing the domestic defense industry, establishing joint ventures with partners, and localizing defense production in Ukraine. It is one of our priorities," Havryliuk said.

He noted that the memorandum contains intentions to implement joint projects aimed at increasing the potential and volume of production of the Ukrainian defense industry. In particular, it is about plans for the production of weapons, organization of repairs, and training of specialists.

"Ukraine is highly interested in establishing joint ventures that will operate according to international standards. I am confident in our further fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation," Havryliuk added.

Joint production of weapons

It's worth noting that Ukraine is actively addressing the issue of arms production amid the conflict with Russia. Specifically, the country is establishing joint ventures with foreign companies.

In particular, our country creates joint ventures with foreign companies. In October last year, it became known about the creation of a joint enterprise between Ukraine and Rheinmetall.

Also, in December 2023, our country agreed with two US companies on the joint production of weapons.
