Russian troops struck Konotop in the Sumy region tonight, August 23. As a result of the Russian strike, residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged, according to the mayor of the city, Artem Semenikhin.

"We had three strikes during the night. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties or injuries. However, the information is still being verified," says the mayor of Konotop.

According to Semenikhin, the Russian strike caused non-critical damage to residential buildings, and at 8 a.m. Kyiv time, the headquarters for eliminating the consequences of the Russian strikes began its work.

"The Russians struck an infrastructure facility in Konotop, which has already been destroyed. There is a high threat of additional strikes in the next 48 hours. Russian reconnaissance drones are likely to be active," the mayor adds.

Russian strikes on Sumy region

Tonight, August 23, the mayor of Konotop reported that the Russians had fired on the city with Shahed strike drones with enhanced combat capabilities. Earlier, Russians also destroyed an infrastructure facility in Konotop with drones.

In addition, on August 22, Russians fired on rescuers in the Zno-Novhorodske community in the Sumy region. The strike caused a fire. At the same time, residential buildings were also hit.

On the evening of August 15, a Russian drone struck the central market in Sumy. After the strike, a fire broke out, burning down several shopping pavilions.
