UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham exchanged several messages with someone posing as Susie Wiles. Downing Street says the incident is not significant, Politico reports.

Burnham messaged the fake Wiles

Burnham responded to messages from a person posing as one of US President Donald Trump’s closest advisers, four officials told the outlet.

According to them, the new British prime minister communicated with someone posing as White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. He later suspected that the contact was fake. Downing Street said it does not comment on national security matters.

One person familiar with the exchanges said the messages were "of no significance."

It is unclear what was discussed during Burnham’s exchange with the impersonator or when the messages were sent. The erroneous contact is being kept "a closely-guarded secret."

Wiles’ phone was hacked

The British Embassy in Washington raised the issue with the White House, two officials said.

The UK government had expressed concerns that Wiles’ phone may have been hacked again.

A White House official said the incident had nothing to do with the hacking of the chief of staff’s devices.

In 2025, the White House and FBI launched an investigation after senators, governors and US business leaders received text messages and phone calls from someone claiming to be Susie Wiles.

The official herself told colleagues that the contacts on her mobile phone had been hacked.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham went on vacation just two weeks after taking office, drawing outrage from his political opponents

It was also reported that on July 27, during his visit to the UK, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the country’s new prime minister, Andy Burnham.

In addition, on July 20, Andy Burnham, who had taken over as leader of the Labour Party days earlier, officially became Britain’s new prime minister, replacing Keir Starmer.
