Possible changes in the law

The UK government intends to consider new legislation that would allow Prince Andrew, Duke of York, to be removed from the line of succession.

According to sources, discussions on the bill could begin after the completion of a police investigation concerning the prince’s connections with American financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was previously convicted of sexual offenses.

Need for international consultations

A source noted that any changes to the line of succession would require consultations with countries where the British monarch — Charles III — is formally the head of state. Without agreement from these countries, such measures cannot be implemented.

Arrest and investigation

The former prince was arrested on February 19 on suspicion of abusing his official position.

He was later released under investigation following questioning. This episode marked the first arrest of a member of the British royal family since 1649.

The case drew additional attention after the US Department of Justice released documents in early February.

The materials claimed that Andrew, Duke of York, had transferred official British trade documents to Jeffrey Epstein. The circumstances surrounding these allegations are still under investigation.

The UK is preparing a new, large-scale military aid package for Ukraine to strengthen its air defense systems. According to available information, the package is expected to include around 1,000 missiles to help bolster the protection of Ukrainian airspace amid ongoing attacks.

The UK has announced its intention to provide Ukraine with military support worth approximately £13 billion. London emphasized that it will continue to support Kyiv and assist the country in resisting Russian aggression.
