Ukraine's Defense Forces continue to inflict significant losses on Russian troops and military equipment, with the latest figures showing the scale of losses sustained over the past 24 hours.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 22, 2026, are estimated to be:

    • Personnel ‒ nearly 1,475,270 (+1,240)
    • Tanks ‒ 12,292 (+6)
    • Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 25,176 (+6)
    • Special equipment ‒ 4,565 (+6)
    • Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 137,804 (+435)
    • Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 2,344 (+11)
    • Artillery systems ‒ 48,382 (+64)
    • MLRS ‒ 2,054 (+2)

    Frontline situation

    Ukrainian Defense Forces advance in the Donetsk region, south of Dobropillia, according to ISW. "Geolocated footage published on August 20 indicates that Ukrainian forces recently advanced in northwestern Vodyanske (south of Dobropillya)," US analysts note.

    Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery in Perm and the Marinovka military airfield in Russia’s Volgograd region overnight. A Russian Su-34 aircraft was confirmed damaged.
