Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery in Perm and the Marinovka military airfield in Russia’s Volgograd region overnight. A Russian Su-34 aircraft was confirmed damaged, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

What was hit overnight

“We continue, through our long-range sanctions, to bring the consequences of the war back to where it came from,” the head of state wrote.

According to him, the strikes reached the oil refinery in Perm. The distance to the target was more than 1,600 kilometers from the border.

The second target was the Marinovka military airfield in Russia’s Volgograd region. There were also results from strikes in the Black Sea.

Confirmed results of previous strikes

The president also spoke about the consequences of attacks that took place earlier:

  • At the Akhtubinsk airfield, a Russian Su-34 aircraft was damaged; the distance to the target was about 600 kilometers from the front line;
  • In Primorsko-Akhtarsk, nearly 180 kilometers away, a site for storing, preparing, and launching attack drones used by Russian forces to strike Ukraine was hit.

“I thank all units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces for their precision and accuracy. Glory to Ukraine!” Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the military.

Background on the strikes on Russia

On the night of August 21, a series of explosions was heard over occupied Crimea, and some settlements were left without electricity.

The largest number of explosions was recorded near Simferopol and in the area of the Tavria Thermal Power Plant.

Meanwhile, the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Russia’s Perm was attacked, and a large fire broke out at the facility.

The refinery processes more than 13 million tons of oil per year and supplies fuel to both the civilian sector and the Russian military.

The facility has already been targeted by drone attacks several times during 2026.
