UK imposes sanctions against Russian Aerospace Forces
On Tuesday, August 10, the United Kingdom imposed new sanctions against Russia. The list includes the Aerospace Forces of the aggressor country, according to the British government press service.
In addition to the Aerospace Forces, sanctions were also imposed against the 924th State Center for Unmanned Aviation of Russia and the Russian Military Transport Aviation Command.
The 924th State Center for Unmanned Aviation of Russia is responsible for supplying drones to the Russian military, including those used for strikes on Ukraine.
The UK also introduced restrictions against five Russian ships, including the Musa Jalil and the Begey.
In March 2023, Western media reported that Iran secretly supplied Russia with 100 million ammunition rounds and about 300,000 artillery shells. These were transported by these very ships.
Additionally, the sanctions list includes seven Iranian legal and physical entities, including the Baharestan Kish Company, which is involved in drone production.
UK sanctions against Russia
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces, Western partners have intensified sanctions pressure on Russia.
In particular, in June, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions for the first time against vessels belonging to the shadow fleet of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which, in its view, are used to circumvent Western sanctions on Russian oil trade.
In July, the UK added 11 new sanctions targeting Russian maritime vessels as part of the sanctions regime.
