UK extends sanctions against Russia
The United Kingdom has expanded sanctions against Russia due to a full-scale war against Ukraine, according to the press service of the British government.
The UK has added 11 new sanctions on ships under the sanctions regime. The restrictions on the vessels, including the Amurskiy Zaliv and SCF Pechora, are related to the transportation of oil or oil products from Russia to a third country.
The vessels are likely flying the flags of Panama, Gabon, and the Cook Islands, according to the government report.
Sanctions against Russia
Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Western partners have increased sanctions pressure on Russia. For example, the European Union has already imposed 14 sanctions packages against Russia.
On June 12, the United States announced new sanctions against more than 300 Russian individuals and entities.
Last month, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions for the first time against vessels of Vladimir Putin's “shadow fleet,” which in its view, are used to circumvent Western sanctions on trading Russian oil.
