On Sunday, December 7, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with his Dutch counterpart Dick Schoof to discuss continued support for Ukraine, reports the British government.

The leaders opened the discussion by addressing the recent escalation of Russian strikes on Kyiv and agreed on the need for sustained international support for Ukraine's defense.

Starmer also informed Schoof about a planned meeting in London on December 8 with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which will focus on current peace negotiations and the next steps.

"The leaders reiterated that Ukraine's security is vital for Europe's security, and through international cooperation, including the Coalition of the Willing, we will always stand with Ukraine," the government summarized.

US peace plan and Dutch support for Ukraine

Ukrainian and US delegations have spent the past two weeks finalizing it to make it more favorable to Kyiv.

Yesterday, Zelenskyy held a phone call with Witkoff and Kushner. According to Axios, they discussed two key issues — territorial issues and security guarantees.

A few days later, the Russian leader announced he had rejected part of the US proposals, adding that the document now contains 27 points divided into four packages.

According to The New York Times, one package addresses Ukrainian sovereignty, including limits on the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and missile ranges. Other packages cover territorial concessions, postwar economic cooperation between the US and Russia, and broader European security issues.

In addition, the Netherlands announced on Monday, December 1, that it would allocate €250 million to purchase American weapons for Ukraine to strengthen its defense against Russian airstrikes.
