President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's victory plan aims to strengthen Ukraine's position. There should be a common strategy between Ukraine and its partners, UK Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Harris says in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

“I believe that this is a plan for a just peace. I think what President Zelenskyy is doing is right; he is developing a new strategy aimed at convincing Russia that military actions will not be effective,” he says.

Harris says he was pleased to have the chance, while Zelenskyy was in London, to discuss these key principles with him, along with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the new NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

“Now we can have a common strategy because we agree with the goal of the President's victory plan, which is to strengthen Ukraine's position by the end of the year,” he adds.

The Ambassador notes that there will soon be a new administration in the United States. “We would like Ukraine to be in a strong position by that time, both militarily and diplomatically, as well as economically. This way, through collaboration with our partners, we can strengthen support for Ukraine,” Harris says.

According to the Ambassador, the goal of Zelenskyy's plan is to strengthen Ukraine's position. “And the concept is that there should be a joint strategy between Ukraine and its partners to achieve this objective,” he says.

Zelenskyy's victory plan

Zelenskyy's victory plan was presented to the Ukrainian parliament on October 16 and to the EU and NATO on October 17. The plan includes inviting Ukraine to join NATO, strengthening Ukraine's defense and turning the war toward Russia, deterring Russian aggression, and special strategic and economic agreements with Kyiv's partners. The fifth point concerns the postwar period - Kyiv proposes to replace American troops in Europe with Ukrainians after the war.

According to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, there is no consensus among EU leaders on the assessment of Zelenskyy's victory plan presented in Brussels.

According to the Prime Minister of Poland, it is difficult to assess how realistic Zelenskyy's plan is today, as much will depend on the results of the US presidential election. “We are in a phase of awaiting the US election results, and no one is hiding that,” Tusk said.
