Ukraine is expanding cooperation with NATO in intelligence and long-range strikes. Britain is already involved in operations against Russia at the request of Washington, reports the Financial Times.

New US intelligence

According to the publication, the United States is preparing to provide Ukraine with new intelligence for strikes against Russian energy infrastructure using drones and long-range missiles. This would mark an increased role for Washington in the war, sources familiar with the discussions said.

Such support will enable Kyiv to map Russia's air defense systems better and plan effective strike routes. It will also enhance the effectiveness of Ukraine's existing long-range capabilities and could be helpful as new weapons are delivered.

Trump's position

Although no final decision has been publicly announced, President Donald Trump has instructed agencies to prepare for the sharing of intelligence. One White House source described the move as "a seismic shift in attitude" within Trump's circle.

At the same time, the US leader remains opposed to using taxpayer funds to aid Ukraine. He prefers that NATO allies purchase weapons from Washington and then transfer them to Kyiv themselves.

Tomahawks and talks with Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that he had discussed with Trump the possibility of transferring Tomahawk cruise missiles. These weapons have been among Kyiv's top requests since the early days of the full-scale invasion.

"We will see. Everything will depend on (Trump's - ed.) decision," Zelenskyy said on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen. According to him, the meeting with Trump was "very good."

Role of the UK and allies

Washington is also urging NATO allies to expand their intelligence support for Ukraine. Sources cited by the Financial Times report that the UK is already assisting Kyiv with some long-range strikes on Russian territory.

Data sharing

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had approved intelligence sharing to support Ukraine's long-range strikes. According to his special envoy, Keith Kellogg, the president also authorized the use of US weapons for attacks on targets inside Russia.

Ukraine has previously carried out drone strikes on Russian oil refineries. According to the Financial Times, at least 16 out of 38 refineries have been targeted since August, resulting in Russia's diesel exports reaching their lowest levels since 2020.

Tomahawk missiles, with a range of up to 2,500 km, could give Kyiv access to new targets deep inside Russia. However, some in Trump's circle remain skeptical that this would fundamentally change the balance of power.
