Two Ukraine-Poland border checkpoints non-operational
On the morning of December 3, two checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border temporarily halted operations due to a customs service database malfunction, reports the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on Telegram.
The border guards have temporarily halted operations at the Smilnytsia and Nyzhankovychi checkpoints in the Lviv region, emphasizing the suspension is due to a customs service database malfunction.
"Registration of persons and vehicles is not carried out due to a malfunction of the customs service database," the message states.
The border service urges Ukrainians to consider the situation on the Ukrainian-Polish border when planning trips.
Blockade of the Ukrainian border
Since November 6, freight transport movement has been hampered. As of December 3, truck traffic is restricted at four checkpoints. Polish carriers' strikes have led to long queues at the border, with demands for a return to the permit system for Ukraine.
In response, Ukrainian drivers have threatened a hunger strike to press for unblocking the border by Polish carriers. Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has appealed to his Polish counterpart, but as of now, there has been no response.
RBC-Ukraine visited the Ukrainian-Polish border, documenting over 20 km-long queues of trucks.
