Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces have carried out new strikes on Russian energy infrastructure in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, said Commander Robert Brovdi, known by the callsign Madyar.
According to him, unmanned aerial units struck two key Russian thermal power plants:
-
Zuivska Thermal Power Plant in the city of Zugres, with a capacity of about 1,200 MW, which provides up to one-third of the electricity supply in the occupied part of the Donetsk region;
-
Starobesheve Thermal Power Plant in Novyi Svit, with a capacity of 2,300 MW, which Russia used to stabilize its energy system.
He stated that Ukrainian drones will continue operating against strategically important infrastructure facilities.
During the night of November 18, unknown drones attacked two thermal power plants in the occupied part of the Donetsk region. After the attack, many settlements were left without electricity. Shortly before that, several public channels began reporting unidentified drones over the occupied territory.
Approximately 30 minutes later, information appeared that power outages and flickering lights were reported in Makiivka and parts of Donetsk, while Ilovaisk was completely cut off from electricity.
Ukraine is increasing the production of long-range drones and missiles and continues striking energy infrastructure almost daily. Attacks on oil refineries and power stations have already caused fuel shortages and supply disruptions.
These strikes have also affected fuel availability and logistics inside Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the attacks as Kyiv's attempt to show some results to its Western partners, but stated that it would not help Ukraine.
