US President Donald Trump, during a phone call with the Iranian side, spoke loudly at the negotiators and later even lost his voice, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said on Fox News.

According to the senator, Trump is directly conducting negotiations with Iranian representatives.

“He was on the phone with the Iranians a couple of days ago. And it got rather sporty — to the point that President Trump loudly told Iran what would happen if they keep playing games. He actually lost his voice. I'd hate to be the Iranian on the receiving end of that,” Graham said.

He admitted that for him, the fact of the US president’s personal involvement in the negotiations came as a surprise.

US-Iran talks

Negotiations between delegations of the US and Iran took place on April 11 in Islamabad (Pakistan) and lasted almost a full day — about 21 hours.

The American side was led by Vice President JD Vance, while Iran was represented by Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Despite the lack of concrete agreements following the meeting, the parties did not leave the negotiation process. The US vice president stated some progress in the talks.

According to media reports, a new round of negotiations between the US and Iran to settle the conflict is being discussed. Reuters reports that the next meeting may take place in Pakistan as early as this week.

Bloomberg writes that Türkiye and Egypt are also being considered among possible venues.

Trump, according to Politico sources, is ready to make compromises with Iran for the sake of peace because he wants this to end.

However, the US intends to continue an organized blockade of Iranian ports to pressure Tehran.

The media also reported that reaching a peace agreement between the US and Iran may take about six months.
