US President Donald Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin "was very impressed" by the start of the operation against Iran. At the same time, the Pentagon said after the conversation between the leaders of the two countries that there is hope for peace in Ukraine, according to Trump’s statement at a conference of the Republican Party and remarks by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth during a briefing.

Donald Trump said that during his conversation with Vladimir Putin, they discussed the operation in Iran.

According to the US president, the Russian leader "was very impressed with what he saw," because "nobody's ever seen anything quite like it."

At the same time, Trump acknowledged that Iran has a powerful and well-armed army, and also emphasized that he believes in the superiority of American weapons and the United States Armed Forces.

Hope for peace in Ukraine

Pete Hegseth said that the conversation between Trump and the Russian President gives hope for achieving peace in Ukraine and in the Middle East.

"I was not on it, but those that were said it was a strong call reaffirming hopefully the opportunity for some peace in Russia (and) Ukraine, and also a recognition that as it pertains to this conflict (Iranian - ed.) they (Russia - ed.) should uh not be involved," he commented on the call between the two presidents.

US and Israeli operation against Iran

On February 28, Israel and the United States launched an operation against Iran. As a result of the strikes, the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, was killed.

Donald Trump warned of a serious strike against Iran in the event of further escalation, cautioning that regime facilities could face "total destruction" if they threaten American interests.

In addition to military pressure, Washington, D.C. is also considering strategic steps in the region. In particular, it became known that Trump had shown interest in the idea of deploying military bases at key points in the Middle East to deter Tehran.

Moreover, the United States is considering the possibility of taking control of an important island in the Strait of Hormuz in order to block Iran’s oil and weapons supply routes.

At the same time, officials in Iran said they are preparing for a prolonged conflict and plan to continue striking countries in the Persian Gulf. According to an Iranian official, only "economic pain" can stop the war.
