The United States aims to capture Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf, which belongs to Iran, according to Axios.

According to sources cited by the outlet, US officials discussed the possibility of seizing Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export terminal.

Around 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports pass through this island, making it critically important for the country’s economy.

US and Israeli operations against Iran

Recall that on February 28, Israel and the US launched operations against Iran. The strikes reportedly also targeted the country's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.

In response, the Iranian military began attacking Israel and several Middle Eastern countries, including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, and Azerbaijan.

A British military base in Cyprus was also hit, alarming Europe and prompting preparations for possible military actions.

Yesterday, US President Donald Trump announced a "serious strike" against Iran, promising the "complete destruction" of the country’s military potential if nuclear developments continue.

Meanwhile, media reports suggested that Trump had shown interest in deploying foreign troops in buffer zones to stabilize conflict regions.

RBC-Ukraine has also reported on whether this conflict could become a "second Iraq" for the US and whether a rapid victory is possible without a prolonged ground operation.

Experts further warn that a major war in the Middle East could deplete weapons stockpiles, potentially causing ammunition shortages in Europe and Ukraine.
