US President was asked whether a war with Iran could increase his chances of receiving the prestigious award.
"I don’t know. I’m not interested in it," Trump replied.
The US president also said he had not discussed the Nobel Prize during conversations with foreign leaders following the start of the operation in Iran.
"No, I don’t talk about the Nobel Prize," he emphasized.
Trump and the Nobel Peace Prize
This year, Trump repeatedly claimed that he had managed to end a number of prolonged wars, including helping to achieve a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas under the US plan for resolving the situation in the Gaza Strip.
However, the Norwegian Nobel Committee decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan politician María Corina Machado. She stated that she dedicates the award to US President Donald Trump.
Afterward, Trump spoke with Machado — after his administration had criticized the Nobel Committee’s decision, calling it politically motivated.
On January 16, Machado presented the Nobel Prize medal to Trump, highlighting his understanding of the situation in Venezuela. This occurred after the US conducted an operation in Venezuela and captured Nicolás Maduro.
At the same time, the Nobel Foundation emphasized that the rules do not allow for the transfer or revocation of the prize.
