Trump states that Ukraine and Russia must 'put an end' to it with agreement

US President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine and Russia should soon reach an agreement to end the war, and that a significant number of "key points" of the deal have already been agreed upon, according to a post by the American leader on Truth Social.
"They are very close to a deal": Trump stated that Ukraine and Russia must put an end to the war.
Upon arriving in Rome to participate in the funeral events of Pope Francis, the American president mentioned that negotiations and meetings are planned with representatives of both official Kyiv and Moscow regarding the issue of ending the war.
According to Trump, both countries are very close to an agreement on peace, and now must meet at the highest level to put an end to the war.
"Most of the major points are agreed to," Trump wrote in a social media post.
The US president also emphasized the need to stop the bloodshed now.
"We will be wherever is necessary to help facilitate the end to this cruel and senseless war," Trump added.
Question regarding peace plans
Western media have been publishing materials for several days regarding the US proposals to Ukraine and Russia about ending the war. These reports suggest that Washington is reportedly willing, on an official level, to de jure recognize Russia's control over occupied Crimea and, de facto, over other specific areas in Ukraine. The US is also said to be ready to lift sanctions against Russia, along with other conditions.
On April 25, Reuters published the US peace plan.
Additionally, the US plan reportedly includes Ukraine abandoning its aspiration to join NATO.
Meanwhile, Ukraine and European countries have shared their ideas with the US on how to end the war with Russia. This is how they responded to Trump's peace plan. The joint peace plan from Ukraine and Europe contains four points: ceasefire, security guarantees for Ukraine, territorial issues, and the economy.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly emphasized that the country will not agree to terms that contradict its Constitution, particularly regarding territorial integrity.
Furthermore, the head of state stressed that the priority must be an unconditional ceasefire, which Kyiv had previously agreed to in mediation talks with the US. However, Moscow has not agreed to this. Other issues should be discussed in the context of a ceasefire, Zelenskyy added.
