US President Donald Trump believes that now is not the time to ask Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine. According to him, the priority for now is to lower oil prices, reports Bloomberg.

Specifically, aboard Air Force One, Trump was asked whether it was time to again request a ceasefire from Putin. The White House chief’s response was negative.

“It doesn’t feel like it. But at the right time, if I have to do it, it’ll be harsh,” Trump said.

He added that it is currently necessary to continue lowering oil prices.

“Very simply, if the price of oil comes down, Putin is going to drop out,” he summarized.

Trump is willing to impose sanctions, but with a condition

Recently, Politico reported that the US and the EU are trying to develop a unified approach to pressure the Kremlin. According to the publication, oil, gas, and trade tariffs remain key topics in the negotiations.

Donald Trump recently stated that he considers EU sanctions against Russia insufficiently strict and called on European partners to impose tougher restrictions.

Additionally, on social media, he wrote that he is ready to impose sanctions - but only if NATO countries stop buying Russian oil.

Currently, it is known that Brussels plans to approve the 19th sanctions package against Russia in the coming days. The decision will be coordinated after a call between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Donald Trump.

Moreover, media reports have repeatedly stated that the US insists that G7 countries impose tariffs of up to 100% on China and India for purchasing Russian oil.
