Trump says Russia sends 'strong signals' of readiness for peace with Ukraine

US President Donald Trump states in his speech in Congress that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready for peace talks. He added that Russia is reportedly signaling its readiness to end the war.
During his speech, US President Donald Trump revealed that he had received an important letter from President Zelenskyy, stating that Ukraine is ready to sit down for peace talks to achieve lasting peace.
"I appreciate that he sent this," Trump remarked.
He also shared that "we’ve had serious discussions with Russia and have received strong signals that they are ready for peace," adding, "Wouldn`t that be beautiful?"
"If you want to end the war, you have to talk to both sides," the US leader emphasized.
Trump also stated that millions of Ukrainians and Russians have already lost their lives in the conflict. He noted that the US had sent hundreds of billions of dollars to support Ukraine’s defense.
"Do you want to keep it going for another five years?" he added.
Trump addresses Congress
US President Donald Trump was expected to address several key issues in his current speech to Congress, including ways to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to Fox News, Trump will present plans to Congress on how to bring the war in Ukraine to an end.
On March 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine and Europe are preparing a plan for sustainable peace soon. Additionally, on Tuesday, President Zelenskyy called for a truce in the sky, at sea, and in the energy sector.
