The administration of US President Donald Trump may postpone the previously set deadline for Ukraine to agree to a peace plan by one week, reports The Economist.

Donald Trump's deadline of November 27 for Ukraine to support the peace plan may be extended by another week, the sources said.

The Economist reported that the new plan is likely to complicate Europe's efforts to seize frozen Russian assets.

Backstory

Yesterday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said after the first day of negotiations that there is an understanding that the deadline for signing a peace agreement set for Ukraine by US President Donald Trump could be shifted.

Rubio confirmed that the deadline set by Trump, November 27, is in fact unstable. The US would like it to be the date set by Trump, but it is more important to do it as soon as possible.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz previously stated that it is unlikely that the US peace plan will be signed before the deadline set by President Donald Trump, November 27, when the United States celebrates Thanksgiving.

Rubio also said twice that the talks with the delegations from Ukraine and European countries in Geneva had made huge progress in bringing peace to Ukraine. Like the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Andriy Yermak, said that the meeting had been productive.

Trump has set a deadline of November 27 for agreeing on a peace plan. He has threatened to stop providing weapons and intelligence data to Ukraine.
