Ukraine must sign the 28-point US peace plan to end the war by next Thursday, November 27, US President Donald Trump stated this in a radio interview with Fox News.
"I've had a lot of deadlines, but if things are working well, you tend to extend the deadlines. But Thursday is it," he said.
Earlier, Reuters reported on this deadline, citing informed sources. According to them, "Washington is putting more pressure on Kyiv than during any previous peace talks."
Moreover, to force Kyiv to sign the peace agreement by November 27, the US threatened to halt arms supplies and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
US peace plan
The US peace plan was drafted by US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, with the support of Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev. The document consists of 28 points.
Some odd phrases in the text suggest Russian involvement in drafting the plan. Western media have noted that several of these phrases appear to have originally been written in Russian.
The plan envisages ceding part of the Donbas territories to Russia in exchange for long-term security guarantees for Ukraine and the EU, reducing the size of the Ukrainian army, renouncing long-range weapons, and more.
Today, November 21, Sky News sources reported that Zelenskyy and Trump are expected to hold a phone conversation about the plan next week.
On the evening of November 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the nation regarding the US peace plan. According to him, the country could face a very difficult choice, marking one of the most challenging moments in its history.
At the same time, European leaders have already stated that the US peace plan could be considered a "capitulation of Ukraine," as it contains no real concessions from Russia. Instead, European leaders are preparing their own version of a peace plan.
More on the US peace plan, its details, and the "aggressive timeline" can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.
