Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump will discuss the American 28-point peace plan next week, Sky News reports.

Sources in the European Union told the outlet that Zelenskyy and Trump have decided to discuss the plan next week. Before that, Zelenskyy will hold consultations on the issue with European leaders — primarily those of the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Germany.

The outlet adds that during the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on November 20, the US plan was sharply criticized, particularly by representatives of Poland, Italy, France, Lithuania, and Germany.

Another US peace plan

The new US peace plan, developed by US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff with the support of Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev, consists of 28 points. It envisions transferring parts of the Donbas territory to Russia in exchange for granting Ukraine and the EU long-term security guarantees, reducing the size of the Ukrainian army, abandoning long-range weapons, and more.

During US Army Secretary Daniel P. Driscoll's visit to Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reviewed the proposals and agreed to discuss them. The White House, for its part, does not confirm or disclose details but states that the plan is supported by President Donald Trump.

However, European leaders have already said that the American peace plan amounts to Ukrainian capitulation, since it contains no real concessions from Russia. European leaders are preparing their own alternative peace plan.

More about the US peace plan, its details, and the "aggressive timeline" can be found in a separate RBC-Ukraine article.
