Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that Ukraine seeks genuine peace and will not try to derail the peace process, according to an address from the head of state.
The President of Ukraine noted that today he met with representatives of the United States. The American side presented their proposals – points of a plan to end the war.
"From the very first days of the war, we have taken one very simple position: Ukraine needs peace. And true peace – one that will prevent a third invasion. A dignified peace – where the conditions respect our independence, our sovereignty, and the dignity of the Ukrainian people. And it is these conditions that we must ensure," emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He assured that he outlined the key positions and that the teams will continue working on these proposals "so that it is done genuinely."
"We will not make abrupt statements and are focused on clear, honest work – Ukraine, the United States, and our friends and partners in Europe and around the world," the president emphasized.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked European partners for their support.
He noted that today he spoke with Finnish President Stubb to coordinate joint efforts.
He also mentioned that he remains in constant contact with other leaders, including the President of France.
"I expect to speak with President Trump in the coming days. We are aware that America’s strength and support can bring peace closer to reality, and we do not want to lose that. We also understand that Russia has no real desire for peace; otherwise, they would not have started this war," Zelenskyy stated.
According to him, Russia has spent this entire year trying to achieve only one thing: delay sanctions and buy more time for the war.
"America has the power to ensure that Russia’s willingness to end the war finally becomes serious. I will continue to work toward this at one hundred percent – all my time is devoted to this now. Ukraine needs peace, and Ukraine will do everything so that no one in the world can say that we are the ones undermining diplomacy," Zelenskyy assured.
US peace plan for Ukraine
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially received a draft plan from the United States, which, according to the American side, could help advance diplomacy.
Zelenskyy’s office emphasized that Ukraine is ready for constructive cooperation with the US and partners in the EU and worldwide to achieve peace.
Previously, Western media, citing their own sources, reported that US and Russian officials were developing a "plan to end the war" in Ukraine. According to unofficial information, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmytriev participated in its creation.
The document reportedly consists of 28 points and effectively envisages Ukraine’s capitulation. In particular, Kyiv is allegedly required to give up the Donbas, half of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and more.
