Trump returns to Michigan with major rally marking 100 days in office

President Donald Trump is set to hold his first major rally since inauguration in Michigan to celebrate his 100th day in office, reports NBC News.
Battleground Michigan welcomes Trump's milestone rally
President Trump is set to return to Macomb County, Michigan, for his first major rally since his January inauguration and his first visit to the state after narrowly defeating Kamala Harris in November's election.
"President Trump is excited to return to the great state of Michigan… to celebrate the FIRST 100 DAYS!" said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Michigan was one of the most visited battlegrounds of the 2024 campaign, with Macomb County standing out as a stronghold where Trump scored a double-digit win.
Oval Office meeting with Whitmer spotlights economic tensions
Trump's Michigan rally comes just weeks after a tense Oval Office encounter with Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who was unexpectedly brought into a media event as Trump signed an executive order and repeated disputed claims about the 2020 election.
"The governor was surprised that she was brought into the Oval Office during President Trump's press conference without any notice of the subject matter. Her presence is not an endorsement of the actions taken or statements made at that event," Whitmer’s office clarified.
Ahead of the meeting, Whitmer criticized Trump's tariff policies, warning, "Auto companies are stockpiling parts and laying off workers. Suppliers are facing higher costs and delaying expansions. Dealerships will be forced to raise prices by up to $15,000 amid slowing sales. And since every auto job supports three others in the community, the impact will be felt by countless small businesses across Michigan, too."
Before his Michigan event, Trump will travel to Rome for the funeral of Pope Francis.
