The President of the United States, Donald Trump, refused to call Russian leader Vladimir Putin a dictator, Trump made this statement to journalists during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House, according to the BBC.

Journalists asked Trump whether he would characterize Russian leader Vladimir Putin as a "dictator," given that he had previously used this word regarding Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Ukraine.

"I don't use those words lightly, we'll see how it all works out," Trump responded, adding that there is a "chance for a very good settlement" between Ukraine and Russia.

Trump and Zelenskyy's dispute

Following a meeting between US and Russian representatives in Saudi Arabia, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's approval rating was supposedly only 4%. In response, Zelenskyy urged him not to repeat Russian disinformation.

At the same time, internal polls confirmed that Zelenskyy's approval rating among Ukrainians exceeded 50%.

Later, Trump called Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections," to which Zelenskyy responded that he was willing to step down for the sake of peace in Ukraine or NATO membership.
