Trump hints at need to hold elections in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump claimed that Ukraine has not held elections for a long time. He also stated that the current head of state has a low approval rating, according to a White House broadcast.
"Well, we have a situation we haven't had elections in Ukraine, well we have martial law, essentially martial law in Ukraine where the leader in Ukraine, I mean I hate to say it, but he's down at 4% approval rating," Trump said.
Zelenskyy's rating
It should be noted that it is unclear where Trump obtained such approval rating figures, as Ukrainian surveys show entirely different data.
According to a December 2024 survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), 52% of Ukrainians trusted President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while 39% did not. The remaining 9% said they were undecided about their stance.
