During talks with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Russia showed that it is now more inclined toward a ceasefire with Ukraine, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.

The head of state reminded that he spoke with US President Donald Trump after Witkoff’s visit to Moscow. European leaders also participated in the call.

"We discussed what was spelled out in Moscow. It seems Russia is now more open to a ceasefire. The pressure on them is working. But the main thing is that they don’t deceive us or the United States in the details,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President also said that Ukraine has proposed to its partners to hold a meeting of security advisors soon to coordinate a joint position and shared vision.

"Ukraine will definitely defend its independence. We all need a lasting and reliable peace. Russia must end the war that it itself started," Zelenskyy added.
