US President Donald Trump said he would seek to establish peace worldwide in 2026. He made the statement on the evening of December 31 at his Mar-a-Lago estate in the state of Florida.

Journalists asked what promise the White House chief made to himself ahead of the New Year. In response, Trump briefly said it was "peace on Earth."

At the same time, the US president declined to comment on questions about Washington's possible readiness to send American troops to Ukraine.

In response, Trump only smiled and thanked the journalists, without giving a direct answer.

US troops in Ukraine

On December 30, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the United States had agreed, as part of security guarantees for Ukraine after a peace agreement is reached, to send its troops to the Russian-Ukrainian border or the line of contact.

This information was commented on by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, only US President Donald Trump can confirm such decisions.

Zelenskyy noted that Kyiv had indeed discussed various security-guarantee formats with Washington, but US officials had not stated their readiness to send troops directly to Ukraine.

At the same time, on Sunday, December 28, after meeting with Donald Trump, Zelenskyy said that security guarantees for Ukraine had already been fully agreed.

Earlier this month, CNN, citing sources, reported that the United States could consider sending American pilots to Ukraine as part of security guarantees to carry out so-called air missions. However, US officials did not officially confirm this information.
