Only US President Donald Trump can confirm whether the United States is ready to send troops to Ukraine. Kyiv has already discussed this possibility with Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said while answering journalists' questions.

The head of state was asked to comment on Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's statement that the US is ready to station troops in Ukraine.

"This can be confirmed by the US President. These are US troops, and therefore, America makes such decisions. Of course, we discuss this with President Trump and with representatives of the Coalition of the Willing," the President said.

Zelenskyy added that deploying a contingent would be a strong element in Ukraine's security guarantees, and the country would like to see it happen.

What Tusk said

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the United States had, for the first time, expressed readiness to send its troops to Ukraine. According to him, American soldiers could be deployed at the border or along the front line.

US officials have not publicly stated they are ready to send troops to Ukraine.

On Sunday, December 28, after a meeting with US President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy said that security guarantees for Ukraine had been fully agreed.

In August, CNN reported, citing sources, that Washington might send American pilots to Ukraine as part of security guarantees. It was suggested that they would conduct air missions. These reports were not confirmed by US officials.
