US President Donald Trump commented on the peace plan that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will bring, saying that the Ukrainian leader "doesn’t have anything" until the American President approves it, Politico reports.

According to the outlet, Trump effectively appointed himself as the "ultimate arbiter" of any peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, he made a rather unusual remark regarding the 20-point plan that Zelenskyy will present.

"He doesn't have anything until I approve it. So we'll see what he's got," he told reporters.

However, Trump quickly softened his tone, adding that he hopes to have a productive meeting this weekend and speak with the Russian President afterward.

"I think it's going to go good with him. I think it's going to go good with Putin," the US President said.

It was previously reported that on Friday, December 26, it became known that Trump will meet with Zelenskyy on Sunday, December 28, at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

Zelenskyy has promised that during the meeting with Trump, he will definitely raise the issue of territories. According to the Ukrainian President, he will discuss both Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. European representatives will also attend his meeting with Trump online.

The Kremlin complained that Zelenskyy's 20-point peace plan "radically differs" from the version being discussed by representatives of Russia and the US.

Russia's complaints are understandable, given that the Kremlin had been sending signals to all parties that it would respond to the ideas outlined in the US-Ukraine draft framework peace agreement after the New Year. However, Ukraine's intense diplomatic activity forced Russia to react sooner.
