Trump notes progress in ending war between Ukraine and Russia

US President Donald Trump has noted progress in negotiations to end the war between Ukraine and Russia, according to the leader's speech at the White House on April 2.
"I think we're being given good cooperation by Russia and by Ukraine but we have to get it stopped," Trump said.
He also added that the average weekly losses for the Russians amounted to 2,712 soldiers.
Trump's peace initiatives
The administration of Donald Trump is striving to bring an end to the war between Ukraine and Russia through negotiations and a ceasefire by the end of spring.
In March, after several rounds of talks, the US proposed a temporary ceasefire along the entire front line for 30 days.
Kyiv fully agreed to the proposal, however, the Kremlin issued a series of demands that were unacceptable and appeared to be preparing for Ukraine's capitulation.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the US conditions were unacceptable, as they allegedly did not address the issues that led to the war.
Trump's administration acknowledged that a peace agreement could not be reached in the coming months and is prepared to exert pressure on both Kyiv and Moscow.
At the same time, US special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, stated that Ukraine and Russia are close to a complete cessation of hostilities.
