Trump makes strange statement at meeting with Christians
Speaking at a campaign rally, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made an incomprehensible statement to Christians. According to Reuters, he said that by voting for him this year, Christians would not need to vote a second time.
During a speech on Friday at the Turning Point Action Christian Conservative Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump told the Christians in attendance that if they vote for him this November, they will not have to vote at all in the next election.
“In four years, you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote,” Trump promised.
What exactly the Republican meant by his statements remains unclear.
Trump's campaign spokesperson, Stephen Cheung, would not comment on the president's remarks when asked.
Instead, he explained that Trump was talking about the importance of uniting the country.
According to him, it was the political climate in the country that led to the split and the attempted assassination of Trump.
Harris' campaign spokesperson Jason Singer also did not directly respond to Trump's remarks about why Christians would not need to vote.
Instead, he called Trump's speech “bizarre” and “backward looking."
US elections
This November, the United States will hold presidential elections. Until recently, the main candidates for the US presidency were current President Joe Biden and his predecessor Trump.
However, Biden recently withdrew his candidacy from the election and suggested that the Democrats nominate Kamala Harris instead.
It is currently known that the Democratic Party will select its presidential candidate by August 7, through online voting.
The latest poll showed that Harris was ahead of Trump.
