US President Donald Trump said he postponed a planned strike on Iran scheduled for tomorrow at the request of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in his post on Truth Social.

According to him, the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and the UAE President, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, believe the sides may reach an agreement acceptable to the United States and Middle Eastern countries.

The US leader said that for this reason, they asked Washington to delay the military operation. Trump added that the potential deal could include Iran abandoning nuclear weapons.

At the same time, he noted that he has instructed US forces to remain on standby for a "full, large-scale assault" on Iran if no acceptable agreement is reached.

US–Iran negotiations

Negotiations between the United States and Iran mediated by third parties have been ongoing for more than a month, but the sides have still not reached an agreement either on ending hostilities or on a new nuclear deal.

According to CNN, Israel is concerned that the US President may strike a compromise deal with Tehran without addressing key security issues that triggered the conflict.

CNN also reports internal disagreements within Trump’s administration: some officials, including members of the Pentagon, support a tougher stance on Iran, while others advocate continuing diplomatic talks.

Later, Trump told Axios that time is running out for Iran and warned of consequences if Tehran refuses a better deal. At the same time, he said he is currently waiting for an updated proposal from the Iranian side.
