Israel is concerned that US President Donald Trump may reach a deal with Iran but at the same time fail to resolve the key issues that actually led to the war, according to CNN.
According to sources, a deal that would partially preserve the nuclear program but at the same time bypass the issues of ballistic missiles and support for regional puppet states would lead to Israel considering the war unfinished.
"The primary concern is that Trump will grow tired of talks and cut a deal – any deal – with last-minute concessions," one Israeli source said.
Although American officials have assured Israel that the issue of Iran's stockpiles of highly enriched uranium will be resolved, the source noted that the apparent exclusion of ballistic missiles and Tehran's network of puppet states from the negotiations is a serious issue.
Officials say that a partial deal that does not address some of Iran's key capabilities while at the same time reducing economic pressure on the country could stabilize the regime and provide it with an influx of cash.
These concerns, according to CNN, highlight the gap between Trump, who apparently does not want to resume the war, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who fears ending the war without achieving his initial goals.
Conflict in the Middle East
For reference, the other day Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that there is still a lot of work ahead in Iran. In this way, he made it clear that the war against Tehran is not yet over.
By the way, US President Donald Trump recently denied having said that military operations against Iran are over. At the same time, he claims that the US has already bombed a lot.
We also wrote that Iran has threatened to sharply intensify its nuclear program if the US carries out new strikes.
