The United States may agree to new concessions for Iran during negotiations over its nuclear program, including a temporary easing of oil sanctions, according to The Times of Israel.

A senior Iranian source said the United States has shown some flexibility regarding Iran’s potential to continue limited peaceful nuclear activities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In addition, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, which cited a source close to Iran’s negotiating team, Washington is allegedly ready to temporarily freeze sanctions on Iranian oil during the negotiation period.

The report says the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control could issue special licenses allowing temporary waivers from sanctions during the negotiation process.

According to the agency, Iran previously sent a new 14-point proposal to Washington via Pakistan.

The source said Tehran has focused on issues such as ending hostilities, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting maritime sanctions.

At the same time, the most contentious issues — Iran’s nuclear program and uranium enrichment — have reportedly been postponed to later stages of the talks.

These remain the main obstacles to a potential new agreement between Washington and Tehran.

US–Iran negotiations

Negotiations between the United States and Iran mediated by third countries have been ongoing for more than a month, but the sides have still not reached an agreement on ending hostilities and a new nuclear deal.

According to CNN, Israel fears that US President Donald Trump may strike a compromise deal with Tehran without resolving key security issues that triggered the conflict.

Sources also report internal disagreements within Trump’s administration: some officials, including within the Pentagon, support a tougher approach toward Iran, while others insist on continuing diplomatic negotiations.

Later, Trump told Axios that time is running out for Iran and warned of consequences if Tehran rejects a deal. At the same time, he said he is currently waiting for an updated proposal from the Iranian side.
