US President Donald Trump criticized Canada for its stance on defense initiatives in the Arctic and its trade relations with China, according to his post on the social media platform Truth Social.
“Canada is against the Golden Dome being built over Greenland, even though the Golden Dome would protect Canada,” Trump wrote.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with Ottawa’s economic policy, accusing the Canadian government of being overly open to cooperation with China.
Trump warned that close trade ties with Beijing could have long-term negative consequences for Canadian sovereignty and strategic interests.
“Instead, they voted in favor of doing business with China, who will 'eat them up' within the first year,” the US president emphasized.

Canada and Trump’s Peace Board
Donald Trump withdrew the invitation sent to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to join the Peace Board. The reason for the decision has not been disclosed.
Relations between Trump and Carney have become tense amid trade disputes. Last year, Trump repeatedly threatened to make Canada the 51st US state, and at a recent Davos forum, he criticized the country, saying that Canada exists thanks to the US.
Earlier, Canadian Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne stated that Canada could join President Trump’s Peace Board but would not pay $1 billion to participate.
