Trump convinces Congresswoman Green to abstain from voting on Johnson's dismissal
Former US President Donald Trump asked Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green to abandon the idea of dismissing House Speaker Mike Johnson, according to ABC News.
Green has previously stated that she is moving forward with her efforts to dismiss Johnson, despite the opposition of many members of the Republican Party.
The agency indicates that Trump had a private conversation with Green at the weekend and urged her to abandon her attempts to dismiss Johnson.
The former US president told Green that the party must be united. Donald Trump has considerable influence in the Republican Party, and Mike Johnson is one of his closest associates. At the same time, Marjorie Taylor Green is also a Trump supporter and is known for spreading conspiracy theories.
What preceded it
Recently, the US Congress approved a bill to provide almost $61 billion in aid to Ukraine. Speaker Johnson, who initially blocked the bill, played a significant role in this issue.
But after the vote, Congresswoman Greene accused Johnson of treason and promised to dismiss him. At the same time, representatives of the US Democratic Party said they would not support such a proposal.
According to Axios, representatives of the Republican Party are increasingly doubting that Green will initiate a vote on Johnson's dismissal.
