US President Donald Trump said he allegedly received an offer from Iran to become its Supreme Leader. He noted that he declined it. Trump made the remarks at the annual dinner of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
The US president stressed that there has never been a country whose leader would want the job less than being the head of Iran.
Trump added that he had been asked to become Iran’s Supreme Leader, but he refused.
“We listen to some of the things they say very clearly. They say, ‘We would like to make you the next Supreme Leader.’ No, thank you. I don’t want that,” Trump said.
Ending the war against Iran
As a reminder, yesterday, US House Speaker Mike Johnson said Washington is wrapping up Operation “Epic Rage” against Iran. According to him, it will conclude soon and strictly on schedule.
In addition, overnight, Trump said that Iran wants to make a deal. He explained Tehran’s public denials by saying it is afraid to say so directly due to fears of being eliminated.
It is worth noting that earlier, Trump said the US decided to shift from bombing Iran to negotiations after Tehran began saying “smart things.”
Yesterday, March 25, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the US had delivered a 15-point peace plan to Iran aimed at ending hostilities in the Middle East.
However, Iran criticized the US 15-point peace plan, calling it “excessive.” It also put forward its own conditions for ending the war.
At the same time, the White House press secretary said reports that Iran had rejected the US 15-point peace plan are not true.
