The head of the US Secret Service has been summoned to a congressional hearing over the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The US House of Representatives Oversight Committee has invited Kimberly Cheatle, the head of the US Secret Service, to testify in connection with the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump during an election rally.

The head of the body, James Comer, invited the Director of the US Secret Service to testify at the hearing on July 22.

Attempt on Trump's life

Today in Pennsylvania, during a rally, an attempt was made on the life of former President and presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Trump was shot in the ear, and video from the scene shows blood after he touches his head. The security service immediately evacuated the former president from the stage where he was speaking at the time of the shooting.

After the evacuation, the Secret Service reported that Donald Trump was safe. His campaign headquarters informed that he was examined at a local hospital.
