Trump got shot - Details and condition of US presidential candidate
Former US President Donald Trump has been subjected to an assassination attempt. The incident occurred during a rally in the state of Pennsylvania.
What happened
In Pennsylvania, during a rally for former US President and potential future Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, an assassination attempt occurred.
After sounds resembling gunfire, he touched his ear and then sat down on the ground. There was a small amount of blood visible on his face. The Secret Service swiftly removed Trump from the stage, and he raised his fist as he entered an SUV. Thus, the former US President was evacuated from the scene.
According to CNN, the shooter who fired the shot was not at the rally but likely on a rooftop outside the venue where Trump was speaking.
The local district attorney stated that two people died as a result of the incident, including the shooter, as reported by The Washington Post. According to their account, the shooter was inside a building. He mentioned that a rifle would have been necessary to shoot from such a distance, as the podium was hundreds of meters away.
According to AP, the suspect in the shooting was killed by Secret Service agents. The alleged perpetrator was not a participant in the rally.
AP reports that the 45th President of the US, Donald Trump, was likely the target of the shooting at the rally in Pennsylvania.
Trump's condition
After evacuation, the Secret Service confirmed that Donald Trump was safe. His campaign team informed that he was examined at a local hospital.
"President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow," spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement.
