US President Donald Trump called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and urged him to refrain from launching a strike on Iran, according to The Guardian.

Journalists, citing an unnamed Israeli official, reported what Netanyahu told Trump in response. He stated that it was no longer possible to cancel the operation and explained the reason.

"Netanyahu told Trump that he was unable to cancel the attack and that it was needed because Iran violated the ceasefire," the report said.

According to CNN, during his Tuesday morning call with the Israeli Prime Minister, US President Donald Trump was described as "extremely firm and direct." A White House source told the network that Netanyahu understands the seriousness of the situation and Trump's concerns.

Ceasefire violation between Israel and Iran

On June 24, US President Donald Trump announced the start of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. However, later that day, Israel reported that missiles had been launched from Iranian territory.

Before departing for the NATO summit, Trump issued a sharp statement regarding the ceasefire violation, saying that the countries "don't know what the f*** they're doing."

The US President also stated that he was "unhappy" with both Israel and Iran — later adding that he was "really unhappy" with Tel Aviv.
