The ceasefire between Israel and Iran came into effect on June 24. The parties must not violate it, US President Donald Trump says.

"The ceasefire is now in effect. Please do not violate it! Donald J. Trump, President of the United States!" he wrote.

The day before, Trump said that Iran and Israel had fully agreed on a truce: Iran would cease fire immediately, Israel in 12 hours. Trump said this is the end of the war and a great event for Israel and the whole world

If the parties remain calm, the war will be officially over. The conflict has been ongoing since June 13.

War against Iran

Israel attacked Iranian military targets on June 13. During the strikes, air defense systems and Iranian missile launchers were destroyed. Iranian leaders were also killed.

The US entered the war on June 22, attacking Iran's nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Anti-bunker bombs, which only the US military has, were used for the attack.

In response, on June 23, Iran launched a symbolic strike on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which is the largest US facility in the Middle East and also the headquarters of the US Central Command.

Markets reacted extremely positively to Trump's announcement of a ceasefire. In particular, oil prices fell below $70 per barrel. However, prices are still higher than before the start of Israel's operation against Iran.
