US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in the Middle East during a phone call. The two leaders agreed that Iran must never be able to destroy Israel, according to a statement from the White House.

According to the White House, Trump and Putin extensively discussed the Middle East as a potential area for cooperation to prevent future conflicts.

"They further discussed the need to stop proliferation of strategic weapons and will engage with others to ensure the broadest possible application. The two leaders shared the view that Iran should never be in a position to destroy Israel," the Trump administration stated.

The conversation between Trump and Putin

On March 18, US President Donald Trump held a phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

During the conversation, Trump and Putin discussed a 30-day ceasefire. Ukraine had already agreed to this proposal during negotiations with the US in Saudi Arabia last week.

Additionally, Putin stated that Ukraine must halt mobilization and military rearmament if a ceasefire is established.
