Last year, Ukrainian forces carried out three offensive operations, two of them on Russian territory in Belgorod and Kursk regions, Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi told journalists.
"In 2025, Ukraine's Defense Forces conducted three offensive operations, two of them on Russian territory — in the Belgorod region and the Kursk region. The third operation took place in the Dobropillia direction," he said.
According to Syrskyi, these actions disrupted the enemy's plans to seize the Donetsk region and to create so-called buffer zones.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also stated that Ukraine's Defense Forces are actively conducting offensive and counteroffensive actions, noting that in certain areas about a quarter of all combat engagements involve Ukrainian units operating on the offensive.
In addition, Syrskyi assessed the number of Russian forces and pointed out a positive detail.
The Commander-in-Chief also named the length of the active combat line. He noted that Russian forces are advancing along the entire frontline with varying intensity. The active zone reaches 1,200 km, while the kill zone extends 15–20 km deep.
