Russian troops are advancing across the entire front line with varying intensity. The active zone extends 1,200 km, and the circle zone extends 15-20 km inland, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

"The situation on the front line remains difficult. The enemy continues offensive actions along the entire length of the line of combat contact with varying intensity. The active front line is about 1,200 km," Syrskyi says.

According to him, the depth of combat formations continues to grow.

"The development of unmanned systems means that combat formations are expanding not along the front, but deep into the kill zone and already reach 15-20 kilometers," the commander says.

He also says that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are continuing to build up and improve their unmanned systems as a separate branch of the military. All target strikes undergo mandatory verification.

According to the Commander-in-Chief, additional battalions of unmanned systems are being introduced into the assault regiments. The total number of drones is increasing in assault units and mechanized brigades.

Each line battalion has a company of unmanned systems, and each brigade has a battalion.

The modernization of the Territorial Defense Forces structures is also continuing, taking into account the specifics of staffing.

"Two battalions of unmanned systems are being introduced in each Territorial Defense Forces brigade. In particular, three infantry battalions and two UAV battalions have been created in the first four Territorial Defense Forces brigades, which significantly increases their combat capabilities," Syrskyi explains.

In addition, the Unmanned Systems Forces are being further expanded and improved. Since the summer of 2025 (when the Unmanned Systems Forces were created), their effectiveness in fire damage and enemy destruction has increased from 4% to 33%.

"Currently, drones account for approximately 60% of the total firepower on the front line. Artillery accounts for 40%," Syrskyi says.

Situation on the front

Earlier, Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, reported that in February, the Russians would try to increase pressure on the front and actively fight until at least spring.

In particular, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that Russia is pulling reserves to Pokrovsk and seeking a breakthrough with small groups.

The US Institute for the Study of War also reported that Russian troops are trying to replicate the scheme they had previously used successfully in Pokrovsk for an offensive on Kostiantynivka.
